The Mayor of Istanbul and Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Alliance, Ekrem Imamoglu, started his tour of Amasya and Tokat from Merzifon. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd gathered at Cumhuriyet Square, Imamoglu stated that “We, as the Turkish Republic and the Turkish people, know the richness of our unity. The People’s Alliance that has emerged today is also an alliance of richness. I am one of those who know the power of the People’s Alliance the best. I know what our presidential candidate, our 13th President Mr. Kemal Kilicdaroglu, and the Leader of the Good Party, Meral Aksener, can achieve together. I know this from our success in Istanbul. When we are together, side by side, I know what we can accomplish.”
Imamoglu also spoke at a “Meet the People” event in Merzifon, where he was accompanied by CHP Vice President Seyit Torun, Merzifon Mayor Alp Kargi, People’s Alliance’s Amasya parliamentary candidates, and Amasya Provincial Chairs of the Six Tables. He emphasized the need to achieve great things in a short time for the sake of the country and the people, not just for those who vote for the People’s Alliance. He also expressed his desire to bring morality and dynamism to politics and eliminate selfishness and arrogance. He reiterated his commitment to the principles of meritocracy, hard work culture, and equal opportunities for all citizens. Imamoglu extended the greetings of Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the beloved 13th President of Turkey, to everyone, saying that he will travel throughout the country to convey the people’s conscience, the state’s wisdom, and the people’s morals. He added that the People’s Alliance embraces everyone, including those from the AK Party, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and the Welfare Party.
Imamoglu further elaborated on the People’s Alliance, saying that it includes everyone and is not limited to a single party. He emphasized the importance of respecting each municipality’s elected officials, regardless of political affiliations, to achieve equality and success in the provision of services. He concluded by reiterating his commitment to working hard and serving the people of Turkey, stating that “We are here to shake everyone’s hand. We will talk to everyone. We will not say, ‘If you are not with me, you are against me.’ We will ask what is troubling you.”
Our homeland is ours, Istanbul is ours, Merzifon is ours; they belong to our nation.”
Imamoglu, who said “the problem is here,” stated, “They ruled for 25 years, that’s right. They did very difficult things, especially in the last 15 years in Istanbul. Now, an understanding that ruled for 25 years has adopted such a psychology: When we win the election, they thought that they had taken their possessions. There is a group of administrators who think Istanbul is their own property. There are only a handful of them. They think Istanbul is their property. No, it belongs to 16 million people, dear brothers and sisters. Do you know what 86 million citizens mean? Every one of us, from east to west, south to north of this country, with everyone present here, we are equal owners of every inch of this country. We are all big owners. Our homeland is ours, Istanbul is ours, Merzifon is ours. That is, they belong to our nation. Therefore, as long as they do not give up this mentality, they are of no use to us. Do you know what we will do to them? On May 14th, 86 million people will say ‘goodbye’ to them. We will start a period that makes them feel that we are the owners of this country.”
Imamoglu emphasized that he trusted the youth and said, “Let me remind the youth: If you don’t have an uncle, aunt, or acquaintances, and you are not able to become a member of that well-known party, can you get a job? Do you know what we will say? We will give every young person the feeling of ‘I will get my right’ who works hard and makes an effort in this country. Then, none of our youth will defer their dreams or give up on their dreams or their country.” Imamoglu underlined that the country was economically collapsed due to wrong management and said, “The mind that created these problems, enlarged these problems, and caused injustice and unlawfulness to every person of our country… Look, we are conducting research. Nearly 80% of our people in this country make comments that there is no justice, and there is no law and justice system. This mentality, which brings lawlessness to every point of this country and puts partisanship into every institution of our state, says, ‘I will solve it.’ For God’s sake, you created all these problems. How will you solve them? Don’t believe them, don’t believe them. There is only one thing to believe in: the alliance of the nation.
“I know what Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Meral Akşener can achieve together”
Imamoğlu, who said “We, as the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation, know the richness of our national composition,” said:
“The People’s Alliance that emerged today is also an alliance of richness. I am one of the people who know the power of the People’s Alliance best. Our presidential candidate, the 13th President of the Republic, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and the General Chairperson of the Good Party, Meral Akşener, I know what they can achieve together. How do I know this? From our success in Istanbul. I know what we can achieve when we are together, side by side. That is the team that will solve all your economic problems and turn into a large team. The leaders and teams of six political parties are here today. Our Deputy Chairman Seyit Torun greeted you. Believe me; we have hundreds of political cadres who have sacrificed themselves for their nation, will serve on this path, are moral, honest, virtuous, and will fight for their people. But do you know who our main team is? They are all your children. These shining ladies and gentlemen, our young people with high energy and pure hearts.”
“We will come together in the Nation Alliance”
Imamoğlu, who said “We set out for our daughters’ and sons’ dreams to be elevated in this country,” used the following statements:
“And we will succeed. We will not divide. We will show the strength of unity to our nation. We will come together in the Nation Alliance. There is little time until May 14. We will visit everywhere until May 14. We will talk and share our problems with everyone. But this is not just our job or the job of our political friends. We will succeed in this job together. What will we do? We will win everyone’s hearts. How? We will talk, share our problems, and listen. We will face the truth. We will tell them. We will explain how a moral and virtuous era will be good for this country. Look, there are thousands of people here. Go and talk to your uncle, aunt, auntie, brother, nephew, spouse, friend, and say, ‘This country needs salvation. This country needs to come together. This country needs to improve in the economy, education, health, justice, and in giving hope to the future of our youth. Say, ‘We cannot succeed if we do not solve our economic problems and overcome our issues.’ But listen first. Say, ‘We are tired of politicians who speak like they are scolding us. We want people who are not frowning but smiling. We need people who unite the nation, not divide it by labeling them as supporters of this or that party. We set out together to unite the nation. Tell them these things. And help us.
“MANSUR BAŞKAN AND I ARE READY”
Imamoglu, reminding that the Sextet Table led by Kilicdaroglu has also assigned duties to himself and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavas during this process, concluded his speech with the words, “We are ready. We will uplift this nation all together. Because we possess the ethics of looking into the eyes of the citizens, feeling them, understanding every problem of our little boy, little girl, young friends, brothers and our nation by empathizing with them and striving to serve them. We have taken this ethics from Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the indispensable leader of these lands, and we will manage this process with this ethics. We will not break anyone’s heart. We will win this election not only for those who vote for us, but for the entire nation. We will win with the People’s Alliance. We will win with the alliance of the nation. We will win with our 13th President Mr. Kilicdaroglu. We will win together. Do you know what will happen on May 15th? Everything will be fine.”
