Durak Textile, one of the leading suppliers of sewing and embroidery threads in the textile industry, strengthened its dialogue with customers and demonstrated its support for vocational education through a two-day program held in Kayseri, which is considered the center of mattress and furniture production.
Durak Textile, a prominent industrial manufacturer of sewing and embroidery threads, reinforced its connection with customers in the mattress and furniture sector and highlighted the importance of vocational education through a two-day tour program in Kayseri. The event, which was of great importance for industry interaction, was attended by Serhat Dilekçi, Brand Unit Manager of Durak Textile, Naime Sertaç Çavuşoğlu, Research and Development and Quality Control Manager, and Erdinç Bolat, Sales Manager for the Interior and Southern Anatolia Region.
The first stop of the Kayseri tour was the Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School of the Turkish Textile Employers’ Union (TTSİS), which is the only school in Turkey that manufactures mattresses at the high school and university levels. During the tour, various departments, including the mattress manufacturing department, were examined, and detailed information about the school and its activities was provided by the School Principal, Osman Yücel, and the actively involved teacher, Mehmet Çelik. The presentation given by Serhat Dilekçi and Naime Sertaç Çavuşoğlu at the conference held during the tour received great interest from the students. The conference covered topics such as the technologies used in yarn production and details about Durak Textile’s high-quality threads.
In the second phase of the Kayseri program, visits were made to Doqu Home Textiles Inc. and Mundo Mattress companies, where meetings were held with purchasing, production, research and development, product development, and planning unit managers, as well as administrative staff. During these visits, Durak Textile representatives provided detailed presentations to company officials about the threads and their applications. Emre Yetgin, the Purchasing Chief, had a fruitful meeting with the representatives of Durak Textile during the visit to Doqu Home Textiles Inc., which is under the umbrella of Erciyes Holding. On the other hand, the Durak Textile team, hosted by Ömer Taşkın, the Operations Manager of Mundo Mattress, closely examined the facility and made assessments.
Durak Textile strengthens collaborations for the future of the industry
Serhat Dilekçi, who evaluated the visits, mentioned that Kayseri stands out with its high yarn consumption due to its central position in the mattress and furniture sector. Dilekçi emphasized the company’s great importance for this city and said, “National brands such as İstikbal, Bellona, Mondi, Yataş, and Kilim Mobilya produce in this city. Kayseri alone accounts for two-thirds of the turnover within the boundaries of the Inner and Southeast Anatolia region. Our visits to the region provided an opportunity to confirm the strength of our ties with the market in this context. It was a very useful two days to present our new solutions in person and to improve our mutual dialogue.”
Dilekçi emphasized that Durak Textile attaches great importance to collaboration with educational institutions that nurture future professionals and continued, “The Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School of the Turkish Textile Employers’ Union is the only educational institution in our country that stands as an example as both an educational institution and a production center. In the quilting and mattress production line, which started operating at the beginning of 2023, students and teachers work together to transform the technical knowledge they have learned into reality. It was exciting for us to meet with the young people and teachers who will shape the future of the mattress industry. During the conference, we not only shared our knowledge and experiences with them but also received inspiring ideas from them. The questions about sewing and embroidery processes in technical and smart textile applications demonstrated the solid foundation of the new generation. We thank the school principal, Osman Yücel, and the entire education community for their support and participation.”
The visit of representatives from Durak Tekstil and their presentation at TTSİS Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School provided teachers and students with information about yarn production in the textile industry, innovations in weaving, and R&D studies, according to Osman Yücel, the principal of the school. Yücel stated, “The representatives of Durak Tekstil, who are the direct producers, presented information about where yarns are used in the textile industry to our young people who will be working in the sector in the near future, using presentations and visual materials.” Yücel emphasized the importance of such collaborations between schools and businesses in accelerating students’ adaptation to the industry and continued, “The visit of the industry to our school and their information sessions positively motivate our students. Through these activities that broaden our students’ horizons in the field of yarn and weaving, their interest in new products and businesses is increasing. They are realizing the importance of being sought-after employees in the industry in the future.”
Erdinç Bolat stated that Doqu Home Textile shares the same quality and trust criteria as Durak Tekstil.
Erdinç Bolat emphasized that Doqu Home Textile is not only one of Kayseri’s leading textile companies but also a prominent textile manufacturer in Turkey, producing for both its own brand and international retailers. Bolat mentioned, “Doqu Home Textile, which has a significant track record and production capacity in the home textile sector, was established in 2019. However, our collaboration with them dates back 15 years ago to the time they were producing under the İstikbal brand. We continue to supply them with Durabobbins 70/2 shuttle loom yarn extensively for their quilting works. Quality and trust are fundamental criteria for Doqu, and as Durak Tekstil, we will continue to provide them with the best support in this regard. During our meeting with the company, we not only discussed our current products and projects but also evaluated what can be done in terms of R&D and innovation. I can say that we are in complete harmony with Doqu and have a strong synergy.”
Emre Yetgin, the Purchasing Manager of Doqu Home Textile, highlighted the close collaboration between the two companies. Yetgin said, “Durak Tekstil officials sincerely and genuinely answered all our questions during the visit and created awareness about yarn-related matters in our factory. Particularly, groundbreaking projects such as balance-controlling yarn and electricity-conductive yarn caught the attention of all our staff.” Yetgin pointed out that Durak Tekstil has been following a fast, solution-oriented approach and a trajectory of evolving competitiveness in terms of pricing. He added, “This visit has been very beneficial for getting to know Durak Tekstil more closely, and we thank them for providing us with knowledge about the yarn sector.”
Erdinç Bolat mentioned that Mundo Yatak, located in Kayseri Free Trade Zone, has been operating in the industry for many years and has made significant investments in the mattress and home textiles sector. Bolat concluded by saying, “As a company that exports 100% of its products, Mundo Yatak continues to increase its production capacity. They choose us and take pride in our high-quality, durable yarns and fast service. We have been working together for five years since they started production, and they use our quilting yarns, Confil 60(3), Durafix 60, and Durabobbins 100/2. We thank them for choosing 100% Durak Tekstil yarns for their production, and for hosting us.”
Ömer Taşkın, the Operations Manager of Mundo Yatak, expressed great satisfaction with the visit of Durak Tekstil officials, thanking them for their warm, strong communication, ease of exchanging ideas, open-mindedness, and honest approach. Taşkın stated that this visit has brought a different perspective to their view of yarn and added, “Durak Tekstil is a creative, innovative manufacturer that conducts research for customers and the industry. They contribute to our designs and our production quality.” Taşkın emphasized that Durak Tekstil responds promptly to their requests, maintains a strong connection through idea exchange and customer visits, and that their customer-oriented approach satisfies them.
