Deniz Kireç’s solo exhibition titled “Seascapes-II” met art lovers at the Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan Cultural Center on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
In the exhibited works, the artist employs figures and symbols bearing the name Deniz, which is the artist’s name. Symbols such as fish, whirlpools, and plants are depicted as subconscious expressions through an intuitive and expressionistic approach.
Regarding the works featured in the exhibition, the artist Deniz Kireç expresses her thoughts as follows: “I have an intuitive and expressionistic understanding of art, so subconscious figures come to life on my canvases. Symbols representing figures belonging to Deniz, which is my name, take their places in my compositions. Such symbols include fish, whirlpools, algae, etc. I use gold leaf in my works. According to Jung, the ‘Soul’ is depicted in a circular form. Drawing inspiration from this, I symbolize the souls of living beings with the golden circle in my works and emphasize the value of the soul. I invite art lovers to my exhibition to share my imaginative and inner journey.”
Deniz Kireç, who received her undergraduate education in Industrial Product Design at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, completed her Master’s degree in Design and Technology at New York Parsons School of Design. While her installation work was exhibited at the Chelsea Art Museum, the documentary she prepared was shown in New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. In 2009, she returned to Istanbul and began teaching as an Instructor at Arel University.
