Borusan Group companies, Borçelik has reconsidered the purification order with the new technologies it integrated into the Boron Industrial Waste Water Plant. Up to 100 percent improvements in substances that cause chemical consumption. In 2030, Borçelik, who implemented many projects in order to reduce underground water consumption by 350,000 m3, took the first step with the “Treatment Facility Optimization and Waste Water Recovery Project için to reduce water consumption.
Turkey’s largest galvanized steel manufacturer Borcik has reconsidered the Boron Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant within the scope of sustainability. Waste Water Treatment Plant Optimization and Waste Water Recovery Project, which was implemented by the project team of 7 people consisting of borrower employees and using advanced treatment systems, was reused in the first phase works of the project of 55 digits for the internal consumption of 55 digits. The wastewater test laboratory established to try other developing waste water treatment technologies and determining more effective treatment methods and the water in 2030, in other words, the water corresponding to the annual consumption of 520 households is aimed to be recovered from the purified waste water. With similar projects on water saving, borrowing aims to reduce today’s well water consumption by half by 2030.
The purified waste water turned into a fish pool
Mesut Güney, a member of the Executive Committee in charge of Production and Investments, said that Borçik has dealt with sustainability in an integrated way and that they are working with the aim of making a production process that respect the new technologies with low -carbon new technologies. Stating that the Waste Water Treatment Plant Optimization and Waste Water Recovery Project is an important step taken for this purpose, Güney continued its evaluation as follows:
“With the project, we evaluated our Boron Industrial Waste Water Treatment facility in Gemlik within the framework of new technological approaches and focused on the purification order, energy, chemical consumption and mud management that will increase the waste water recovery potential of our facility. We started the first phase of our project, which consists of four phases, in December 2021 and completed all the phases in last August. Thanks to the project we quickly obtained the results, we have improved 100 percent of iron sulfate and 24 percent in lime consumption. In addition, we have reached a 31 percent reduction in the mud of the dangerous waste of waste and prevented 3 trucks from being sent to storage and burning facilities of 3 trucks. The project also contributed to our goal of using our energy efficiently. We managed to purify waste water in the same volume with 24,000 kWh/year less energy and saved energy. Considering the sensitivity of the society, we will continue to develop our processes and benefit the society with the feedback we receive from the society. ”
Stating that they have achieved a 70 percent improvement in KOİ, which is one of the parameters in determining the water quality with the project, Güney said, “If we need to express this improvement with an analogy, a small village of a small 50 household can be tolerated. We are reduced to pollution levels. In order to show the quality of the water we discharged and to provide us with more motivation in our studies, we built a fish pool fed only with discharge water and created an area where they can live in a healthy way. ”
Inspired by nature and inspires the future
