In October, Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, one of Turkey’s historical landmarks, embraces the theme of “Çırağan Palace Turns Pink” to support breast cancer awareness and emphasize the importance of early detection. This marks the ninth year of collaboration with the Breast Health Association of Turkey (MEMEDER) to raise awareness and support women.*
A Unified Effort Against Breast Cancer
Ralph Radtke, General Manager of Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul and Regional Director of Kempinski Residences Turkey, expressed their dedication to this meaningful project: “As Çırağan Palace, we are delighted to have been supporting MEMEDER continuously for nine years by organizing numerous events throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are also thrilled to expand our efforts on a global scale by involving our guests from all around the world in this awareness movement. Collaborating with MEMEDER and contributing to societal responsibility with such a meaningful project has been a source of happiness for us.”
Breast Cancer: Preventable and Treatable with Early Detection
Prof. Dr. Vahit Özmen, the Founder and Honorary President of MEMEDER, thanked Çırağan Palace Kempinski for their contributions and stated, “First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to Çırağan Palace Kempinski and Regional Director Ralph Radtke for their contributions to women’s health and MEMEDER in our ongoing collaboration for nine years during ‘October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.’ Today, breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer to become the most frequently diagnosed cancer, and its prevalence has more than doubled in the last 20 years, including in Turkey. However, breast cancer is a preventable disease with early detection and healthy lifestyle habits. Avoiding obesity and regular exercise are among protective measures against breast cancer. Self-examination from the age of 20, combined with regular clinical examinations, increases awareness, while mammography screenings from the age of 40 allow for very early diagnosis. I hope that women are aware of this prevalent disease and live healthy lives.”
Raising Awareness with Pink Activities at Çırağan Palace
Throughout October, various activities at Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul aim to raise awareness about breast cancer. Pink floral arrangements are placed in different areas of the hotel, and information cards and hashtag cards are provided in common areas and restaurants to educate guests. Employees of Çırağan Palace Kempinski receive awareness training from MEMEDER, actively participating in awareness efforts.
Moreover, all proceeds from the sales of “fit treats,” a category of sugar-free desserts offered at Çırağan Palace Shop, will be donated to MEMEDER at the end of the month. The entrance to the renovated Gazebo restaurant welcomes guests with striking pink chocolates and special information cards featuring the silhouette of Çırağan Palace. In Gazebo, every table is equipped with information cards to enhance awareness. Pink baklava accompanies tea, while miniature pink medallion chocolates in the shape of the Çırağan Palace silhouette complement coffee. Additionally, exclusive pink chocolates featuring the Çırağan Palace silhouette and the historical gate model are available for purchase during October.
The collaboration between Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul and MEMEDER seeks to emphasize breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection while supporting women’s health and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
