The research conducted by Findmykids has revealed how much distance children cover in their daily lives. Findmykids, a location tracking application with over 5.8 million users worldwide and over 250,000 active users in Turkey, evaluated the distances covered by children in their daily lives.
According to the information shared by Findmykids Country Manager Neşen Yücel, children worldwide cover an average of 12.3 kilometers each day. It was determined that they walk 2.8 kilometers of this distance and cover 9.5 kilometers by vehicle. The daily average walking distance for children in Turkey was measured at 3.6 kilometers.

According to the research, Azerbaijani children were found to be the most active walkers globally, covering an average of 4.8 kilometers per day. In Kyrgyzstan, this figure was 4.3 kilometers, and in India, it was 3.8 kilometers. Turkey ranked at 3.6 kilometers. Germany and Russia had an average walking distance of 2.6 kilometers for children, while in the United Kingdom, it was 2.2 kilometers, and in the United States, children walked the least, with an average of 1.6 kilometers.
Findmykids Country Manager Neşen Yücel stated, “Through our measurements of when children are most active globally and in Turkey, we observed that children spend a significant amount of time on the road going to and from school. Children globally spend 17% of this time walking and 12% in a vehicle. In Turkey, children spend 20.3% of their active hours on the roads. This is a noteworthy period, and it is important for parents to guide their children in utilizing this time.”

Yücel also emphasized that parents using the Findmykids app can track their children’s location on the map, helping them stay away from dangerous areas. Highlighting that the average distance between homes and schools for children in Turkey is 6 kilometers, Yücel pointed out the significant differences in this distance among countries.
According to the results of the research, Saudi Arabia ranked first globally with an average distance of 14.4 kilometers, while Turkey was ranked with 6 kilometers. Yücel said, “Turkish children are among the most active walkers globally, spending 6.5% of their active hours walking. This rate is quite high compared to rates in Russia (5.5%), Germany (5.1%), the United Kingdom (5%), and the United States (3.7%).”

Yücel offered the following advice to parents concerned about their children’s safety: “Parents can easily examine the usage duration of applications on their children’s mobile phones and provide necessary guidance through the Findmykids app. Additionally, by tracking their children’s routes, they can keep them away from dangerous areas. For instance, when they see a route with heavy traffic, they can suggest a safer alternative to their children.”
