The curator of the exhibition, Begüm Güney, describes the “Moon, Sun, and Moon” exhibition as “a celebration of those who give birth to themselves through a holistic love, standing before their own hatred, where the pains of existence, life, and its consequences are frequently compared; a deep loneliness born of separations, pain, and immense joy, something that makes one cry and smile, that can provoke anger but is ultimately overcome by a transcendent passion for everything.”

In the “Moon, Sun, and Moon” collection, Güventürk’s exploration of modern humanity’s search for meaning, expressed through metaphor, imagery, allusion, and play, becomes both individualized and societal. In the impasse of individuality constructed by the modern world, the emotions knotted in our throats surface through Güventürk’s astonishing, bold, and sincere expression, opening up to an interactive and emotional sharing.

Güventürk defines this as: “The crowd that heals alone becomes savage.”
As we gaze at each of his works, we are drawn into the depths as if lost in a dream before a mirror. And as we step away from each mirror, we are left astonished by the collective nature of the emotions we once believed to be uniquely our own.
With a sense of hopeful resistance, searching for sunny days within the darkness of the moon!
You can visit the “Moon, Sun, and Moon” exhibition at Müze Gazhane until April 13, 2025.
