Işıner Güngör, the Chairman of the Turkey Inspection Board of the International Diplomats Association (DMW), arrived in Istanbul to participate in the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Güngör, who attended the “November 15 Republic Reception” held at a hotel in Beşiktaş by the TRNC Istanbul Consulate, enthusiastically shared the TRNC’s 40-year independence story, emphasizing the friendly relations and cooperation between Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
Among the many prominent figures present at the event were TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, 1st Army Commander General Ali Sivri, Istanbul Police Chief Zafer Aktaş, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce President Şekib Avdagiç, and representatives from various sectors.
Işıner Güngör conveyed his congratulations to TRNC Istanbul Consul Fatma Demirel and her husband Muhittin Demirel on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC. He also expressed his appreciation for the strong collaboration between the Istanbul Consulate and the TRNC and Turkey.
Highlighting DMW’s efforts for the economic development of the TRNC and its increased recognition on the international stage, Güngör mentioned that the diplomatic summit held in Girne aimed to enhance the TRNC’s effectiveness in the global diplomatic arena.
In his statement, Güngör said, “With Turkey’s significant support, important steps have been taken towards the increased international recognition of the TRNC. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call at the UN and observer membership in the Turkic Council are just a few examples of these steps.”
Emphasizing the diplomatic goals for the future, Güngör stated that they plan to strengthen collaboration between the TRNC and Turkey, intending to take new diplomatic initiatives in the coming period.
Among the other speakers at the reception were TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu, TRNC Istanbul Consul Fatma Demirel, and Istanbul Governor Davut Gül. They commemorated the meaningful day by recounting the heroic struggle for independence dating back 40 years.
Following the reception, guests enjoyed Cypriot and Turkish cuisine, concluding the event with a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of the 40th anniversary.
