This week, Beşiktaş General Secretary Mehtap Ferah and Beşiktaş Manager Serhan Çetinsaya answered the questions of journalist Faik Gürses in the “Gündem Special” program broadcast on D-Smart.
Besiktas Secretary General Mehtap Ferah stated that they started relief efforts from the first day of the earthquake, which affected 11 provinces in Kahramanmaraş, and said:
“First of all, we established a disaster center. We have already set out two trucks on the first day. Afterwards, we contacted the disaster coordination teams and tried to deliver the aid correctly. Our associations are 111 trucks and we sent 110 trucks from the club. Apart from this, we have also sent by plane and sea.” said.
“NO HELP WAS WASTE”
Beşiktaş manager Serhan Çetinsaya spoke about the aid made to the earthquake area:
“We organized the right aid to the right place and ensured that not a single truck was wasted. We designed the operation according to the needs of each region. In this way, not a parcel or even a lira of aid citizens was lost. The earthquake happened on February 6, the tent city established by Beşiktaş in Hatay was ready on February 10. While the state was struggling so much in such a wide region, we tried to do everything ourselves at the highest level by getting help from our associations and stores in the region, with minimal help from the state. Our volunteer supporters worked day and night. We hope that we can continue to provide sustainable service in that region on a voluntary basis.” he said.
“WE WILL ESTABLISH A BEŞİKTAŞ SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION CENTER COORDINATED WITH AFAD”
Mehtap Ferah said, “We established the Beşiktaş Search and Rescue Operations Center (BAKOM) in coordination with AFAD and the authorities. We have established such a center in order to be effective in such disasters in the future. Our deputy governor in charge of AFAD said that if necessary, we can get AFAD certificate after the trainings to be given. We will give training in our stadium at certain intervals and give an AFAD certificate in return. In the event of an earthquake that may occur in and around the Marmara region, we plan to reach each other in a coordinated way and support the works, and also plan to turn our stadium into a disaster center. We will announce the trainings shortly.”
“TOY CAMPAIGN REACHED 1 BILLION PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA”
Serhan Çetinsaya referred to the toy campaign held at Vodafone Park:
“I think this organization will win an international award. According to the data reported to us, it was stated that there was news in 24 countries, it was the most talked about topic on social media, and 1 billion people interacted. It has been reported to us that the entire video has been watched approximately 290 million times. In fact, the campaign was anonymous. Very beautiful images were created. We think that there are about 21-22 thousand toys. The biggest gain here was to raise international awareness of an event that took place in our country.”
“I CAN’T LEAVE YOU, WE WANT TO BUILD SCHOOLS WITH MY TURKEY CAMPAIGN”
Mehtap Ferah talked about the campaign “I Will Not Let You Go, My Turkey”:
“During the visits to the region, our president stated that several schools were destroyed and said that schools should be built. We decided to do such a study to save the future of children. We expect everyone who wants to support to support us through the help channels we have opened.” said.
Serhan Çetinsaya also talked about the “I Will Not Leave You My Turkey” campaign:
“We contacted the Ministry of National Education. We contacted the Ministry and made the necessary negotiations to build a prefabricated school. Here, we have created a temporary solution until the reinforced concrete schools are built, and we thought that we can move these schools to the villages that do not have schools later on. In a short time, we are close to the end of the job. It will be a school where all kinds of social activities will be done. It may also be used as a permanent model in Anatolia. Functionally it was a good school. We started this campaign for those who want to support this project. As the aid increases, the number of our schools will also increase. We want to build as many schools as we can by September.”
Stating that they reduced the activities to be held in Beşiktaş’s 120th year as much as possible due to the earthquake disaster, Mehtap Ferah said, “We will have some organizations after the necessary permissions are obtained. We will announce once permissions are received. We expect a serious income from this event and we plan to pass this income to earthquake victims.” said.
“THE TFF’S DECISION ON GAZİANTEP FK AND HATAYSPOR WAS NOT CORRECT”
Serhan Çetinsaya also commented on the football team:
“Because we are good supporters, we become managers and try to serve. As a manager, I especially want the football team to gain momentum. First we will play with Istanbulspor and then we will go to Fenerbahce away. The league race is interesting this year. Beşiktaş was the club that suffered the most from the concessions provided by the Football Federation regarding the teams affected by the earthquake disaster. It is not correct to take the decision hastily after the earthquake. Clubs should be consulted. Football is a game that represents a serious system, not players playing on the field. This was the objection of our President Ahmet Nur Cebi. We are excited about the derbies we will do in April, yes, but this decision has put the clubs in competition with the top into a difficult situation. It wasn’t right that it was a decision made with a few people. However, we will continue on our way by preserving Beşiktaş’s financial discipline and taking into account the appropriate criticisms. In these conditions, the most important thing should be to create the champion team by making the best transfers without wasting our money.”
