A massive dance team of 400 performed the Zeybek in Esenyurt. The Esenyurt Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble put on a magnificent performance in honor of the 101st anniversary of the Republic’s proclamation, thrilling and moving the audience.

To celebrate Republic Day on October 29, Esenyurt Municipality is hosting a variety of vibrant events. The folk dance ensemble’s performance began with Zeybek, led by dance instructor Mustafa Gümüş, who transformed himself into the likeness of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk using special makeup techniques. The performance, held in the square of a shopping center in Esenyurt, attracted spectators of all ages. The citizens of Esenyurt, filled with pride and emotion, showered the dancers with applause.

“WE BROUGHT THE SPIRIT OF THE REPUBLIC HERE”

Mustafa Gümüş, the Folk Dance Instructor of Esenyurt Municipality who organized the performance, said, “We’re organizing a celebration worthy of the 101st anniversary of our Republic. With our 400 dancers, we both honored Atatürk and brought the spirit of our Republic here. I would like to thank our Mayor of Esenyurt, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, who supports us under all circumstances, gives life to culture and the arts, and provides us with opportunities.”

Nilgerin Yılmaz, a folk dance trainee of Esenyurt Municipality, said, “First and foremost, I’d like to thank our Mayor Ahmet Özer and our instructor Mustafa Gümüş. It was a great honor for us to be here today. We’re very happy to have put on such a beautiful performance.”

Funda Mert, who expressed her pride in celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic, said, “Today, with our folk dance group of 400 and our instructor Mustafa Gümüş, we are experiencing the joy of welcoming the Republic. We thank Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer for providing us with this opportunity.”

THE REPUBLIC CELEBRATIONS WILL LAST FOR THREE DAYS

Esenyurt Municipality’s Republic Day celebrations for October 29 will continue for three days. As part of the events, on Monday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m., a Republic Fashion Show will be held at Esenkent Rıfat Ilgaz Open Air Theater, followed by a performance from beloved folk singer Gökhan Gökmen. On Tuesday, October 29, a torchlight procession from the old municipal garden to Republic Square will begin at 7:30 p.m., after which singer Ece Seçkin will perform for the residents of Esenyurt at 8:30 p.m.
