Alan Kadıköy, which attracted the attention of Istanbul art enthusiasts shortly after its opening, has started its second season with two important exhibitions.
“Aloş” meets art enthusiasts for the first time after his death
The first of these exhibitions is Ali Teoman Germaner’s sculpture exhibition titled “Aloş”. Prof. Dr. Ali Teoman Germaner, one of the most important sculptors of 20th Century Modern Turkish Art and one of the founders of the Basic Art Education Department at Mimar Sinan University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, known by his nickname “Aloş”. Germaner passed away in 2018, and this exhibition is the first comprehensive and qualified exhibition of his works after his death. A selection of 140 works produced by the master artist Ali Teoman Germaner throughout his 60-year artistic life from the second half of the 1950s until his death was brought together by the design and curation of Metin Deniz. The exhibition of the master artist Ali Teoman Germaner’s works titled “Aloş” will be open for art enthusiasts to visit at Alan Kadıköy until June 25, 2023.
Ercan Arslan’s “Göz Dinler” exhibition is presented in Turkey for the first time.
The second exhibition hosted by Alan Kadıköy this year is the painting exhibition titled “Göz Dinler”, which includes a selection of Ercan Arslan’s 25-year works. In addition to large oil and acrylic paintings, ink and lavie drawings, Arslan’s drawings during the Gezi Resistance are also exhibited. In this exhibition, which is the first time Arslan’s works meet art lovers in Turkey, it is also possible to watch videos and interviews with the artist. Art lovers can visit the “Göz Dinler” exhibition until July 1, 2023.
Alişan Çapan, the Director of Culture and Social Affairs at Kadıköy Municipality, also made statements about the two new exhibitions they hosted this year. Çapan said, “We are facing art lovers with two new exhibitions this year. The first one is Ali Teoman Germener’s sculpture and drawing exhibition titled ‘Aloş’. We attach great importance to this exhibition because this exhibition actually serves the mission we have assigned to Alan Kadıköy from the beginning. Our mission is to introduce important artists of the Republic of Turkey throughout the 20th century, especially to the people of Kadıköy and all Istanbulites. Aloş is also a very important master who directly serves this mission. It is the first exhibition held after his death. This comprehensive exhibition with its catalog is currently open for our art lovers to visit in Alan Kadıköy.
“Our second exhibition is Ercan Arslan’s exhibition. While introducing important modern masters of the Republican period to art lovers, we also wanted to create a second leg that opens up space for contemporary artists in our gallery. In this sense, Ercan Arslan is also a strong example. We will also hold various interviews during the exhibitions that will last until the end of June.”
