After the earthquake that took place in 10 provinces, ALEM Magazine and the Red Children’s Association joined forces and embarked on a new journey for the earthquake victims.

After the earthquake disaster in the country, the entire ALEM team, under the leadership of ALEM Magazine Editor-in-Chief and Alem Magazine Advertising Group President Gözde Yörükoğlu Ersu, asked the question “What can we do?” While looking for the answer to his question, he met with Simay Bülbül, President and Founder of the Red Children’s Association.

The first priority of the association was to reach the foster families whose houses were damaged in the earthquake and who were about to come to Istanbul. The house was ready within 24 hours with the valuable donors and volunteers.

Accordingly, the ready-to-use house in Çekmeköy was shared with foster families. The identified seven families were brought to Istanbul from Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, İskenderun and Hatay with the coordination of institutions. Our team, who had the chance to see and experience the struggles of solidarity and clinging to life, continues to work for the continuity of aid.

The second goal of ALEM Magazine and the Red Children’s Association was to create a permanent playground for children affected by the earthquake. While working on this idea, we set out for Kahramanmaraş to touch the hearts of our children and to determine the place where a permanent playground will be built. Based on the toy campaign launched through social media accounts, a truckload of toys was simultaneously delivered to the region with the support of valuable donors. In Kahramanmaraş, we shared their happiness by playing games with the children and making them smile a little bit. Gymy Kids team also supported this journey.

In order to sign a long-term project, the works for the Red Roof Playground project continue at full speed. Red Roof is getting ready to meet with young people and children between the ages of 0-18 in Kahramanmaraş, accompanied by expert pedagogues and psychologists.

At the same time, valuable donors and volunteers who are aware of the aid campaign of ALEM Magazine and Red Children’s Association continue to support families affected by the earthquake and coming to Istanbul since the first day.
