The 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs’ Day activities started with the official ceremony held in front of the Atatürk Statue in Bodrum Municipality Square in the morning. Muğla Deputy Governor Murat Sarı, Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras, Bodrum Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Tolga Yamalı, Justice Commission President Engin Koç, Garrison Commander Staff Colonel Ertan Benli, Veterans Association Deputy President Kemal Berber, veterans, department heads, representatives of political parties and NGOs. , teachers, students, families of martyrs and citizens.

After the laying of wreaths, a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, a ceremonial shooting was carried out by the soldiers.

The program continued with activities organized by Martyr Türkmen Tekin Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, Profilo Marina Secondary School and Doğa College in the coordination of the District Directorate of National Education at the Herodot Cultural Center. Martyr Türkmen Tekin Anatolian Imam Hatip High School Principal Yusuf Özden gave his speech stating the meaning and importance of the day. The awards were presented to the middle and high school students who ranked in the painting, poetry and composition competition themed on March 18, Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs’ Day, organized by the Bodrum Provincial Directorate of National Education throughout the peninsula.

The performance of the teachers, who performed live music during the play, with the “Çanakkale” themed theater play put on the stage by the students, was highly appreciated.

After the program, the district protocol visited the martyrs’ cemeteries on the Bodrum Peninsula, and then came together with the veterans and their families at the luncheon held at the Trafo Cafe.

Visit to Martyr’s Families and Veterans

On the occasion of March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs’ Remembrance Day, Deputy Mayor Ummahan Yurt and Bodrum Municipality Media and Public Relations Directorate Martyrs’ Relatives and Veterans Services Bureau teams visited the homes of veterans and martyrs’ relatives living in the district.
