Beren Saat has once again supported the “Okuyan Bir Gelecek” project, this time to help children affected by earthquakes. AÇEV (Mother-Child Education Foundation) has started adding new videos to the Okuyan Bir Gelecek digital platform to support children affected by the earthquake in dealing with their challenging emotions. Actress Beren Saat took the microphone for okuyanbirgelecek.org and narrated the storybook titled “Tostos Dedesini Özlüyor”.
AÇEV launched the “Okuyan Bir Gelecek” project in 2016 to support children’s language development, promote their love of reading, and introduce them to the colorful world of books. In 2021, they moved the project to a digital platform to continue supporting children during the pandemic. Artists, experts, and writers have narrated 18 different storybooks so far with the accompaniment of Fazıl Say’s music.
An uplifting story about loss and grief
Following the earthquakes that deeply affected all of Turkey, AÇEV started adding new books to the okuyanbirgelecek.org platform to support children in dealing with their challenging emotions. Beren Saat narrated the first book in the new series, “Tostos Dedesini Özlüyor.” The book, written by Clinical Psychologist Bahar Çakır and illustrated by Gözde Eyce, shares an uplifting story about loss and grief with children.
Beren Saat, who has previously supported the Okuyan Bir Gelecek project with her voice, said, “I am happy to contribute to this meaningful project and thank AÇEV. I hope it brings good and hope to everyone, especially children and families affected by the earthquake, and those struggling with challenging emotions.”
“The new content will support coping with challenging emotions.”
AÇEV Genel Müdürü Senem Başyurt has announced that AÇEV continues to provide psychosocial support to children and families affected by the earthquake by creating child-friendly spaces in the earthquake zone. As part of their efforts, AÇEV has restructured their “Okuyan Bir Gelecek” (A Future through Reading) project to focus on children and families affected by the earthquake. In this new phase of the project, AÇEV is proud to be working with their supporter, actress Beren Saat.
AÇEV’s goal is to focus on long-term rehabilitation for children and families affected by the earthquake. They believe that the Okuyan Bir Gelecek platform plays an important role as one of the components of this long-term goal. They also plan to add new books to the platform, and believe that the support of the voice actors, including Beren Saat, Cem Yılmaz, Demet Evgar, Genco Erkal, Hatice Şendil, Mert Fırat, Selçuk Yöntem, Selma Ergeç, Songül Öden, Tilbe Saran and Yekta Kopan, will help to embrace all children with compassion through this project.
The videos on the okuyanbirgelecek.org platform, which features the voices of these renowned actors, including Beren Saat, have been viewed over 200,000 times. The new video on the platform, “Tostos Dedesini Özlüyor” (Tostos the Grandfather is Missed), can be listened to on the website okuyanbirgelecek.acev.org/tostos-dedesini-ozluyor. The platform also provides access to the audiobook “İnek Möli Asla Unutmaz” (Molly the Cow Never Forgets), which Beren Saat had previously narrated.
