The unfortunate incidents that occurred on the set of the documentary series Historic Trials, a co-production of Asil Production and Seen Film, have brought to light a significant need within the industry.
These events inspired makeup artist and platform founder Makeup Guru Aybüke to launch a new digital solidarity movement: “There’s a Complaint on Set.”
The lack of adequate communication networks between crew members and artists in the film and television industry has made it increasingly difficult to prevent unusual and exploitative situations—especially in recent years. As Aybüke puts it: “If we had heard about it earlier, maybe we could have taken precautions, and none of this would have happened.”

Responding to this need, “There’s a Complaint on Set” was founded as a solidarity-based digital platform where industry workers can share the challenges they face with transparency and freedom. The goal is to amplify the voices of those who’ve experienced injustice and raise public awareness to prevent similar issues from happening again.
The founder, successful makeup artist Makeup Guru Aybüke, who has personally endured such mistreatment, invites all industry professionals not to remain silent: “If we don’t speak up about what we go through, the next set might be even more unsafe. This platform was created to break the silence.”
Aiming to become a collective voice against systemic issues on sets, “There’s a Complaint on Set” marks the beginning of a new era in the film and television world—one of transparency, solidarity, and justice.
