The International Development and Environment Association – IDEA Universal has implemented the Smart Learning Laboratory project for the children of seasonal agricultural workers in Bahçe Village, a district of Karataş in Adana.
The International Development and Environment Association – IDEA Universal provides children with the opportunity to learn smartly and enjoyably at their own pace through its technology-based learning laboratory project. Tablets with physical games aimed at improving children’s motor skills are installed in the smart learning laboratory. Over 500 smart applications supporting various areas such as basic logic, mathematics, reading-writing, and creativity are loaded onto the tablets. This allows children to efficiently and quickly bridge their educational gaps with the support of artificial intelligence.
“With this project, children can bridge their educational gaps.”
Hayri Dağlı, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Development and Environment Association – IDEA Universal, states that they have been working on the smart learning laboratory project for the children of seasonal agricultural workers in Bahçe Village, which is part of Karataş, Adana, for the past two years. He adds, “This region also experienced a significant earthquake. Therefore, the inability to access education for the children in this area is not new, but with the earthquake, even more children have reached a point where they cannot continue their education. This has been the case for the children of seasonal agricultural workers for years. Therefore, without changing our location, we proceeded with our planned schedule and established the smart learning laboratory. Here, with 20 tablets and over 500 game-based applications and other physical applications, children learn quickly in areas such as reading-writing, logic, mathematics, and creativity at their own learning pace. With this project, we are creating equal opportunities for children to complete their education. We particularly targeted girls with this project. It is open to everyone, but the benefit it brings to girls is much greater. Thanks to this project, children can bridge their educational gaps efficiently and quickly with an AI-supported model that goes beyond its time.”
“The project aims to reach approximately 100,000 children.”
The smart learning laboratory was designed to be open for children’s use every day of the year. The project aims to reach all children of agricultural worker families in the region, as well as refugees and children in earthquake-affected areas. Since March 25, 2023, a total of six people, including the project coordinator, field coordinator, three teachers affiliated with the Ministry of National Education from the region, and one volunteer, have been working in the smart learning laboratory project. The project aims to reach approximately 100,000 children.
Mobile version of the project is also available.
The mobile version of the project, the smart learning laboratory on wheels, has also started its activities. This mobile smart learning laboratory provides artificial intelligence-supported basic education to children along a route drawn in earthquake-affected areas. The International Development and Environment Association – IDEA Universal aims to reach all cities and villages affected by the earthquake, from Adıyaman to Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep to Malatya, with this mobile smart learning laboratory.
