Painter Devrim Demiral met with art lovers at Evrim Art Gallery on November 22 with his solo exhibition titled “Romantic,” consisting of his recent works. The exhibition, which can be visited until December 10, 2025, aims to reevaluate the aesthetic and intellectual heritage of modernism while focusing on contemporary interpretations of romanticism.

Devrim Demiral shares his thoughts on the exhibition as follows: “If there is an idea of historicity, the artistic and aesthetic situation that modernism has brought us to requires us to reconsider history. In my opinion, the desensitization created by our age can be overcome through romanticism’s critical way of looking. In this context, a seascape should not be perceived merely as a seascape, but as an effort to create a new palette for the new romantic form-style relationship. Throughout its historical evolution, romanticism has associated with different disciplines, developed within these disciplines, and divided into new romanticisms. In my works, I take these new romanticisms as a starting point and trace the paths of romanticisms.”

Devrim Demiral, who completed his undergraduate education at the Department of Painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and his graduate education at the same university, is an important artist who has taught as a lecturer at leading universities in Turkey and has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both at home and abroad. Demiral continues his work in his studio in Istanbul.
