The President of the Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD), Mr. Gürkan Boztepe, paid an official visit to the Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Ms. Fatma Şahin.
During the visit, extensive discussions were held on the role of gastronomy tourism in regional development, Gaziantep’s globally renowned culinary culture, and the vision of sustainable tourism. The significance of Gaziantep’s rich culinary heritage in transforming Turkey into an international gastronomy brand was emphasized.
GTD President Gürkan Boztepe stated, “Gaziantep, with its UNESCO-recognized gastronomy heritage, sets an example not only in Turkey but also globally. Preserving this cultural legacy and integrating it with tourism is a shared responsibility for all of us.”
Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Ms. Fatma Şahin, expressed her satisfaction with the visit, emphasizing the importance of gastronomy-based initiatives in terms of both economic and cultural development. Ms. Şahin remarked, “Gaziantep cuisine is not merely a taste experience but a way of life. Making this richness more visible on both national and international platforms is of great importance.”
The visit concluded with mutual messages of goodwill regarding the development of joint projects focused on gastronomy tourism and the international promotion of local values.
It was also confirmed during the visit that Ms. Fatma Şahin will participate in GastroShow 2025, one of Turkey’s most prestigious events in the field of gastronomy. This major event is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2025, at Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Istanbul, with the goal of sharing the vision of gastronomy at an international level.
