In 2019, Yunus Emre Sert won first place in the nationwide “Biyetenek” Composition Contest held across Turkey. With his new single İyi Biri (A Good One), he becomes the voice of those who are excluded, misunderstood, and isolated.
Yunus Emre Sert (YES), a distinctive voice in the alternative pop music scene, dedicates this emotional song—produced by Genco Arı—to those “truly good” people who choose to live without masks.
İyi Biri, dedicated to all good people who are isolated, misunderstood, and labeled as “the other,” carries a powerful message from Sert’s sensitive pen. The song makes a poignant reference to today’s web of relationships, where people who live unmasked and act from the heart are often tested by exclusion.
Authentic goodness that doesn’t fit into society’s imposed molds—unmasked and real…
İyi Biri is more than just a song; it is a stance and a call for awareness. With arrangement by Genco Arı, the track brings the lyrics to the forefront with its simple yet impactful structure, while Yunus Emre Sert’s heartfelt interpretation adds emotional depth.
He won the competition with his first composition Maalesef Bitti (Unfortunately Over), where the jury included prominent names like Murat Kınay, Engin Akıncı, Tolga Görsev, and Murat Beşer.
