During his career, he has worked with important names such as Haluk Levent, Teoman, Barış Akarsu, Yavuz Çetin, Rojin, Bulutsuzluk Özlemi, Kesmeşeker, Acil Servis, Kurtalan Ekspres, and released 2 solo albums, the first in his field, blending rock guitar techniques with local motifs, Serdar Öztop, one of Turkey’s rock guitar virtuosos who has also accomplished important works as an arranger and producer within the scope of mixing and mastering, talked to Eylül Aşkın about his childhood years, his memories with valuable artists, unknown facts about him and his future plans.

Serdar Öztop, who has developed himself as an arranger and producer in addition to his musician identity, is the owner of Öztop Music and continues to offer all kinds of services related to composition, recording, arrangement and production in his studio in Beşiktaş.

“I am not very interested in education.”

Serdar Öztop, who also worked as an instructor at the Modern Music Academy for a while, said, “I would never recognize myself as an instructor. Because you have to be curious about it, it’s a separate discipline. You should always have this question in your mind every day: ‘What am I going to teach the students today?’ I don’t have that.”

On December 14, 2023 at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, Serdar Öztop Anatolian Rock Orchestra; Inspiring Minstrels attracted a great deal of attention with his concept concert, Öztop expressed that he hopes this project will continue and that he continues to work in this field.

“We applied to the ministry for Culture Road Festivals.”

Serdar Öztop, who will have the chance to travel to 16 provinces with the same project in line with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, wishes to bring the works of our minstrels together with the enthusiasts in other provinces with his own arrangement.

Stating that he is busy with the preparations of this project in which he will organize concerts in seven different cities, Serdar Öztop said, “We will be in one city every week from the end of April to mid-June.”
