In the city center of Nevşehir, heavy showers that started around noon today caused flooding in some neighborhoods and resulted in water inundation in a few houses and businesses. The municipal teams, alerted by the rain, immediately took action on main roads and neighborhoods.

The Fire Department teams continued to pump out water from some affected houses and businesses in the 2000 Evler and Güzelyurt neighborhoods, while the Sanitation Department teams cleared the mud from the roads after the rainfall.

The Sewage Department teams made significant efforts to keep the drains open, especially on main roads.

Dr. Mehmet Savran, the Mayor of Nevşehir, stated, “We have been experiencing significant rainfall in our city in recent days. Today, in just 35 minutes, some neighborhoods received 40 kg of rainfall per square meter. Sometimes, the precautions taken may not be sufficient against such a high amount of rainfall. Throughout the day, all our teams were in the field. In some neighborhoods, although in limited numbers, minor flooding occurred in ground-floor apartments and businesses. Our teams intervened immediately in these areas. While continuing our work in the field as the municipality, we are also developing permanent solutions for the precautions we can take in the future.”
