The Red Roof Children’s Support Center, established in Kahramanmaraş, opened on April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with the slogan “Play Heals”. Famous singer Sefo entertained the children with his songs at the opening ceremony, which was attended by Özge Yağız, Nesrin Cevadzade, and Seda Bakan.

The Red Roof Children’s Support Center, which was established in Kahramanmaraş to provide sustainable benefits for children in the region after the earthquake on February 6, met with earthquake victims with the participation of famous names. While the Red Roof project aims to provide children with enjoyable moments and reduce the impact of the trauma they experienced with the natural disaster to some extent, the supports, trainings, and activities in the Red Roof will continue to be carried out by counselors for 24 months.

Various activities were organized

Children participated in painting, photography, coloring, and storytelling workshops during the activities that started in the morning, and they had a joyful 23 April with activities that continued throughout the day. The beloved singer Sefo, who supported the Red Roof project, came together with children in the area and sang songs together. Sefo, who expressed his happiness for meeting with children and attending the event, said, “The Red Children’s Association organized a very nice event for April 23. We came for the children in Kahramanmaraş and celebrated the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with enthusiasm. We will continue to visit the earthquake zone and sing together with the children.”

Famous actress Seda Bakan, who attended the opening ceremony, said, “My heart and soul were always in earthquake zones. Thanks to the Red Children’s Association, I am here. I am very happy to be here. I will continue to come.” Actress Özge Yağız said, “Everyone should come here. We are giving back their colors to the children. Keep supporting us, do not withhold your support.” Another actress Nesrin Cevadzade, who attended the opening, said, “The children are asking when will you come again. We should not leave them alone. That’s why continuity is important.”

“We succeeded with our volunteers and supporters”

Simay Bülbül Sarıpınar, the Chairman of the Board of the Red Children’s Association, said, “After the earthquake on February 6th, we mobilized to establish the Kırmızı Çatı (Red Roof) in Kahramanmaraş. Thanks to the donations of volunteers, the support of brands, and of course, all the beautiful people who were with us on this journey, we opened Kırmızı Çatı on April 23rd. We would like to thank all our celebrity friends who supported us in our efforts to establish the support center.”

Tuvana Büyükçınar, the Founder of A46 and Volunteer of the Red Children’s Association, said, “We had a very successful opening. Our goal is to provide permanent benefits rather than temporary solutions to the earthquake zone. “Continuity” and “follow-up” will be the key principles in all our work related to the February 6th disaster. Our work will continue with the healing power of games and toys.”

It was organized according to age groups

Kırmızı Çatı (Red Roof) was established as a prefabricated settlement area with a closed area of 225 square meters. It was designed as an area with eight separate rooms, including a 125 square meter common play area and a library, technology, pedagogical, guest house, and kitchen. The 700 square meter outdoor area was designed as a playground and vegetable garden. The area was organized according to age groups and planned to include activities such as design, art, education, science, technology, sports, nature, and family events. Kırmızı Çatı aims to establish a connection with families by making periodic visits to the same place and the same families and children, with the motto “Play Heals”.

The Kırmızı Çatı Child Support Center was established in Kahramanmaraş Kipaş Prefabricated City in collaboration with the Kırmızı Çocuklar Association, Kipaş, Alem Magazine, and A46. At the opening, McDonald’s Turkey delighted the children with toy and hamburger menus, while the Bosch Children’s Environmental Theater performed the play “La Fonten Forest Court”. Additionally, the brands that supported the opening event were Colins, Erciyas, Derimod, Doğtaş, Maxelance, Monreve, Modafen, Fiveoclock, Teksan, and Wtech.
