“On the day that the Ramadan Bayrami coincided with Friday, which is one of the most important days for Muslims, Two Festivals were celebrated together.
On the occasion of the Ramadan Bayrami, an official holiday ceremony was held at the Iznik Municipality Tea Garden. All political parties, public institutions and organizations, and civil society organizations participated in the holiday ceremony, showing their unity and solidarity.
Tens of thousands of Muslims performed their Bayram Prayers in the central and neighborhood mosques of Iznik. People of all ages filled the rows in the mosques. After the Bayram Prayer, prayers were offered. Following the Bayram Prayer, the mosque congregation congratulated each other on the holiday. While young children kissed the hands of their elders, the elders shared in the joy of the holiday by kissing the eyes of the little ones. After the Bayram Prayer, citizens who congratulated each other on the holiday among themselves visited the cemeteries and offered good wishes and prayers to those who had passed away to the Hereafter.
The official holiday ceremony was held on the first day of the holiday at 10.30 am at the Iznik Municipality Tea Garden. The ceremony was attended by Iznik Governor Recai Karal, Mayor Kağan Mehmet Usta, Jandarma Commander Çağlar Önderışık, Police Chief Mithat Öztaş, National Education Director Muhammed Asil, District Mufti Üzeyir Yavaş, Marmarabirlik Board Chairman Hidamet Asa, Municipal Council Members, Village Chiefs, Political party representatives, Veterans Association, Public Institutions and Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Chamber Presidents and the participation of the people.
In his speech during the holiday ceremony, Iznik Mayor Kağan Mehmet Usta said: “Welcome dear veteran uncles, valuable families of martyrs, dear governor, administrators of Iznik, civil society organizations, party leaders, and my dear fellow citizens. We are really happy to see such a beautiful crowd and unity. Whatever happens, whether there are elections or something else, may Allah never break this unity of ours. May our dialogue always remain open, God willing. We are all struggling for Iznik and for this country. Our goal is nothing other than our Flag and our Country. Not our political or personal interests. Therefore, I hope that our approach to each other will be within the framework of good intentions. By the grace of God, we have completed the month of Ramadan and observed our fasts. Today is the holiday. May Allah accept your worship that you have done and will do. May your families have healthy, happy holidays from now on. Once again, may your holiday be blessed and auspicious.”
Governor of İznik, Recai Karal, in his speech, said “I congratulate everyone on their holiday. Our homeland experienced a great disaster about two months ago. Of course, there are those affected by the disaster. I pray for mercy for the deceased, and quick recovery and patience for those who survived. Our homeland showed solidarity and unity when needed. I am proud of İznik. They showed exemplary solidarity and support. I thank everyone who contributed. Today is a holiday. I advise you to reconcile with all our close or distant ones whom we are upset with, without expecting anything from them, taking the opportunity of the holiday. I will do the same myself. With these feelings and thoughts, I wish you, your families, your children, and your loved ones a happy holiday. I wish that Allah grants us many more healthy and happy holidays together here. Happy holidays,” he said.
After the holiday greetings, the protocol members, District Police Department, District Gendarmerie Command, İznik State Hospital staff and patients, Nursing Home residents, İznik Muhtars Association, and the earthquake victim families who are our guests at İznik DSİ Facilities, visited and celebrated their holidays.
