The Turkish Communist Party, which started working in the region immediately after the earthquake, has published a documentary that details their solidarity efforts.

The solidarity documentary tells the story of the first hours of the red-jacketed volunteers in #Hatay and how they built solidarity in the earthquake-stricken region throughout the country.

The documentary also includes interviews with Senem Doruk İnam and Salih Bostancı, members of the Central Committee of TKP, as well as Ozan Yılmaz, who was part of the first team to reach the region. TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan emphasizes the importance of the “Citizen’s Pledge” signature campaign they launched after the earthquake, which received a lot of public attention.

Aydemir Güler, the Earthquake Monitoring Center Manager, explains the purpose of the center established after the earthquake with the following words: “We tried to weave a social solidarity against the earthquake. Now, as part of that solidarity, we are striving to establish a progressive, community-oriented, and people-centered mindset and strengthen it. There are scientists, lawyers, and healthcare professionals in the earthquake monitoring center. We are trying to bring this energy together and empower each other. Therefore, the Earthquake Monitoring Center is not a center for generating ideas only. Of course, ideas will be produced, but these ideas will be put into practice by meeting with the real actors in the field, with concrete people.”

The documentary also tells how the process was coordinated at the crisis desk established in Ankara, and includes the opinions of TKP’s earthquake coordination center executives.
