They Delivered Their First Petition

The children who are members of the Children’s Assembly submitted their petitions to Mayor Aras regarding the naming of the traffic education park in the Çırkan Neighborhood, after Saynur Gelendost, one of the important names of the Turkish Environmental Movement, who gave her heart to Bodrum. Mayor Aras, who examined the petition, stated that they would invite the children to the first Municipal Assembly and bring their petitions to the assembly as a motion.

“You are the future of Bodrum and our country”

Emphasizing the importance of the establishment of the Children’s Assembly, Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras said in his speech that they will always attach importance to the ideas of children:

“The establishment of the City Council Children’s Assembly was a project we have been working on for a while. But I am very happy that it has come to life today, that it has come true. I wish you success for the work you will do in the upcoming period, and of course I promise to work together shoulder to shoulder and arm in arm. We are always ready to support you. You are the future of Bodrum and our country. Your participation in decisions about the future of the city will be beneficial for you, us and our city. We will seek your opinion, value and attach importance to activities, investments and decisions we will take.”

City Council President Arif Yılmaz stated that the work of the City Council Parks Working Group Commission was also transferred to the Children’s Assembly, and said, “The parks are theirs, the best ideas come from them.”

At the end of the visit, Mayor Aras presented the children with the municipal publications Journey to Halicarnassus, Stories to Can.

The executive committee of the Bodrum City Council Children’s Assembly chaired by Belinay Mumcu; It consists of the names Armin Bozkurt, Elif Eren, İmranur Uluğ, Cesim Burak Aydın, Evren Demir, Mert Yıldızgör, Çınar Yıldızgör, Asya Kaş, Ahmet Ayaz Aydın and Muhammet Demir.
