The ceremony was attended by BOTAŞ Petroleum Operations Regional Manager Mehmet Tecimen, BOTAŞ Maritime Services Manager Halil Cute, UZMAR Board Chairman A. Noyan Altuğ, Başiskele District Governor Necip Çakmak, Kocaeli Port President Erol Ekmekçi, Kocaeli DTO Board Chairman Vedat Doğusel, KOSBAŞ Board Chairman Ayhan. Zeytinoğlu, and the guests attended.
Turkey’s first LNG-Diesel dual-fuel tugs
BOTAŞ Petroleum Operations Regional Manager Mehmet Tecimen gave his speech with BOTAŞ Y.K. President and General Manager, Mr. Burhan ÖZCAN and BOTAS Y.K. Member and Assistant General Manager. Mr. He started by conveying the greetings and best wishes of M. Talha PAMUKÇU. In his speech, Tecimen mentioned the importance of BOTAŞ’ maritime activities and stated that BOTAŞ has 14 tugboats in its fleet and that they have 55 years of experience in tugboat, pilotage mooring and fighting fire and pollution at sea. Underlining that the Gazi FSRU ship started its operations at the Dörtyol LNG Terminal in March 2021, BOTAŞ Petroleum Operations Regional Manager Mehmet Tecimen continued his speech as follows; “As an organization that loves ‘firsts’, we are proud and honored to be a ‘First’ again. Today, we all experience the joy of adding a new one to the sustainable, technological and universal goals of our country and BOTAŞ. I hope that our 2 tugboats, which will be built as Duel Fuel, will bring good luck to our country, the maritime sector, and our BOTAŞ.”
They will work in Iskenderun Port
Ahmet Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of UZMAR, in his speech; “First of all, I wish God’s mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster we experienced on February 6, and my condolences to their relatives. In these days when we are trying to heal the wounds of such a great disaster, our project, which we will start by cutting the sheet metal here today, is of particular importance for our tugboats belonging to BOTAŞ, a very valuable organization that operates in regions heavily affected by the earthquake.
These tugboats that we will build for BOTAŞ are very important sea vehicles. They will be used in the maneuvers of the Iskenderun Port in the region, at the ports where ships sailing to the world’s seas dock due to the pipelines coming to this region, and they will ensure port security in this region. They will be equipped with very advanced technologies in terms of maneuvering and maritime capabilities, and the most superior equipment compared to their counterparts in the world.” said.
“We have the highest level of technology in the world”
Ahmet Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of UZMAR; “Compared to the ones in Europe, America and Austria, we could not build these tugboats, which are equipped with the highest technological features in the world, maybe we could import them 20 years ago. As Turkish engineers, we are proud of being able to build such sophisticated and technological tugboats today.
‘TRAktor V3900-DF’ tugboats are equipped with Voith Schneider propellers and operational safety is increased with 360-degree visibility in all directions. Our tugboats, which work with LNG fuel and can also operate with diesel fuel when necessary, and whose NOX emission standards have been reduced to zero with these extremely environmentally friendly features, have a technology above their counterparts. We congratulate and thank BOTAŞ for making such an important investment in such technological tugboats.’ He added.
