Turkish exporters see the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as a turning point in Turkey-Malesis relations, which are revised by covering new areas such as services, investment and e-commerce in order to exceed $ 1 billion in Malaysia.
The Aegean Exporters’ associations organized one of the biggest trade committee organizations of 2023 under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and team in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia on 12-15 March 2023.
In the delegation, 19 Turkish companies made close to 300 bilateral business meetings with more than 110 Malaysian company representatives from different sectors.
The opening speeches of the trade delegation were held by Emir Salim Yüksel, the Ambassador of Kuala Lumpur of the Republic of Turkey, Muhammet Öztürk, President of the Union of Exporters of Ege Grace Pulses Oil Seeds and Products, and Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
STA scope has been expanded

Nearly 300 bilateral job interviews with more than 110 Malaysian companies
Jak Eskinazi, President of the Coordinator of Aegean Exporters’ Associations, said, “Turkey is one of the most important trade partners of Malaysia. Our exports to Malaysia, which is 453 million dollars, exceed $ 1 billion and intensive studies should be carried out in order to close our foreign trade deficit. At the same time, we need to benefit from the Free Trade Agreement (STA), which paves the way for new areas such as services, investment and e-commerce, not only in goods trade. We realized the first general trade committee for Malaysia from Turkey on March 12-15 by our Union under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and the team. Food, textile, machinery, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, electronic and tourism sectors represent 19 Turkish companies with supermarket chains and distributors of more than 110 Malaysian companies with close to 300 bilateral business meetings. At the same time, during our delegation, the Turkish Airlines and the Presidential Investment Office also held bilateral meetings. ” he said.

Explaining that exports from Turkey to Malaysia increased by 8 percent in 2022, Muhammet Öztürk, President of the Association of Oil Seeds and Products Exporters of the Ege Grace Pulses and Products, said: .
