Speaking at the Economics Congress of the Second Century, economist Yusuf Işık stated that the most important problem in the world is inequality and regulation, and drew attention to the need to adopt the social information economy.

Evaluating the point that technology has reached and the world order, Işık said, “It is not a way out for the state to manage everything. Much more subtle, advanced solutions need to be found. Supercomputers do billions of billions of operations per second. Since these extraordinary developments have taken place in all areas of social life, it has now turned into a knowledge economy. Countries are investing heavily in order to move this forward. Before the pandemic, neoliberal policies were much more dominant in the world economy. After the pandemic, the instinct of self-preservation took action. One of the complex issues is globalization is slowing down, it’s true. But the problems are international. What to do? It is painful,” he said.
“The biggest problem is inequality”
Touching on the problems in the world, Işık said, “The biggest problem is maybe number one; inequality and regulation. How will all this be fixed? If the social knowledge economy is adopted, then all these areas can be carried out together from the beginning instead of encountering surprises later. Efficiency can increase a lot. Green transformation can be done much more successfully. Initiatives can be promoted much more easily. Education goes much further,” he said.
“Turkey has a very high capacity”
Işık also said: Turkey’s capacity is very high. It may sound surprising. A meltdown in capacity has begun as it has been so misused and destroyed through governance. Entrepreneurs are dynamic, employees are dynamic in Turkey, but the road is slowly running out. In a world where extraordinary technological breakthroughs and their results will be taken, an attitude that will increase being disconnected from them is unacceptable. Extremely inconvenient. In order to use this potential of Turkey, it is necessary to change the governance.”
