Thousands of volunteers from all over Turkey are digging through the concrete with their own hands.

The leader of the DEVA Party, Ali Babacan, continues to share the pain of those affected by the disaster in the affected area. Babacan, who was in the Yurt Neighborhood in Adana Çukurova, said, “There are thousands of volunteers from all over Turkey who are reaching here with their own efforts and trying to reach people by digging the soil and concrete with their own hands. I express my gratitude to each and every one of them.” Babacan spoke as follows:

16 buildings have collapsed in Adana.

We are in the Yurt Neighborhood in Adana. Only in this neighborhood, 5 buildings are completely destroyed. The total number of buildings that were destroyed in Adana has been reported as 16. There are damaged buildings. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of difficulty in Adana Center. Many families are waiting for news from their loved ones at the rubble. The pain is great.

Our citizens are complaining rightfully.

Despite being in the city center, here as well as everywhere else, citizens are talking about rescue and other assistance arriving too late. They are complaining rightfully. The destruction is great.

Needs are unlimited, but the effort to meet them is limited.

Turkey has not faced such a big destruction in a simultaneous manner in its recent history. On one hand, there is a great destruction, on the other hand, there are unlimited, endless needs, but on the other hand, there is an effort to meet the needs with limited public capacity and civilian efforts. Fire burns where it falls. Families that rescue their loved ones from the rubble are happy, but they are also devastated when corpses are found from the rubble. May God be our helper.
