The women of Şişli sell their handmade products every Tuesday; It will be offered for sale in the “Women’s Handicraft Market” opened in the Organic Market in Feriköy. In the project, which was implemented with the cooperation of Şişli Municipality and Şişli City Council, 280 women will be able to exhibit their products in 140 stands at the first stage.

Şişli Municipality added a new one to its work in the field of women. The Women’s Handicrafts Market, which was realized in cooperation with the Şişli City Council Women’s Assembly, opened on Tuesday, January 10. There are 280 women in 140 stands in the first phase of the project, which aims to bring the products made by women’s handicrafts to their buyers every Tuesday.

It is aimed to increase this number in the later stages of the project. In this market, women will be able to offer many products for sale, from packaged food products to jewelry, from clothing to souvenirs.

“Women will be the home of women”

Şişli Mayor Muammer Keskin, Şişli Municipality Councilors, Headmen of Şişli, and Şişli City Council executives were together at the opening ceremony of the Women’s Handicraft Market, where women from Şişli showed great interest.

At the ceremony, the most important issue underlined by the project managers, who emphasized the aims of the study; was that this study was an important step of women’s solidarity beyond a market study.

Sisli Women’s Council President Arzu Cut Tuncer said, “Women will not be women’s wolf, but their homeland,” and stated that they will expand this solidarity by reaching more women every day. Sisli Mayor Muammer Keskin, who visited all the stands at the opening ceremony and chatted with the women, stated that they developed projects to make Şişli a woman-friendly municipality and drew attention to the fact that a strong society is possible with strong women.

Pointing out that they attach great importance to the participation of women in economic and social life by leaving their homes, Keskin also stated that with Oyunbüs, which will be fixed every Tuesday in the market area, women will be able to come safely without having to leave their children at home alone.

President Keskin added that the ongoing studies and projects for women, especially within the Social Support Services Directorate, will continue.
