Housing sales across Turkey decreased by 18.0% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 80 thousand 31. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 14,980 house sales and 18.7%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 235 house sales and 10.3% share, İzmir with 5 thousand 31 house sales and 6.3% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 16 houses, Ardahan with 30 houses and Tunceli with 47 houses, respectively.
Housing sales decreased by 4.4% in the January-February period
Housing sales decreased by 4.4% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 177 thousand 739.
Mortgage housing sales amounted to 17 thousand 357
Mortgaged house sales across Turkey decreased by 12.7% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 17,357. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 21.7%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-February period, on the other hand, decreased by 11.8% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 33 thousand 560.
5 thousand 93 of the mortgage sales in February; 9 353 of the mortgaged sales in the January-February period were first hand sales.
As a result of other sales types, 62 thousand 674 houses changed hands.
Other house sales across Turkey decreased by 19.3% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 62 thousand 674. The share of other sales in total house sales was 78.3%. Other house sales realized in the January-February period, on the other hand, decreased by 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 144 thousand 179.
The number of first-hand housing sales was 23 thousand 476
The number of first-hand house sales in Turkey decreased by 18.8% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 23 thousand 476. The share of first hand house sales in total house sales was 29.3%. In the January-February period, first-hand house sales decreased by 9.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 51 thousand 8.
56 thousand 555 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales
Second-hand house sales across Turkey decreased by 17.7% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 56 thousand 555. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 70.7%. Second-hand house sales decreased by 2.4% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 126 thousand 731.
3 thousand 350 houses were sold to foreigners in February
Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 27.0% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 3 thousand 350. In February, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.2%. Antalya took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 1,261 house sales. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 1,133 house sales and Mersin with 225 house sales, respectively.
Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 14.4% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year and became 7 thousand 511.
According to the nationality of the country, the most house sales were made to the citizens of the Russian Federation.
In February, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,183 houses from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 446 residences, Iraq with 173 residences and Ukraine with 142 residences, respectively.
