“Strong knowledge and portfolio with the TEFAS platform”
Avşar R. Sungurlu, General Manager and Board Member of Takasbank, expressed their happiness in being a project partner and providing infrastructure support in the fourth year of the “Golden Egg University Fund Basket Competition.” He emphasized the importance of this established project in contributing to the awareness of university students about the capital markets and their financial literacy levels.
Sungurlu underlined that it is essential for the youth who shape our country’s future to start their investment habits and financial literacy during their university years. He stated that the competition would contribute to the development and deepening of the capital markets and also recommended that participants benefit from the TEFAS platform (www.tefas.gov.tr) for detailed fund analysis and comparison to maximize their portfolio’s profitability.
Sungurlu highlighted that interest and participation have been increasing year by year and expressed their commitment to continuing to contribute to the sustainable development of our country.

“Young people will learn to design a sustainable future with their investment preferences”
Ibrahim Öztop, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Capital Markets Association (TSPB), pointed out that the increasing natural disasters such as fires and floods have once again highlighted the most important global issue, which is “sustainability.” He emphasized that finance, which has the power to transform all industries, is increasingly focused on “green transformation” worldwide. Öztop also highlighted that sustainability funds (ESG: Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) have been growing significantly in recent years in the investment sector globally. He noted that interest in sustainability-themed funds has also been increasing in Turkey.
Öztop said, “There is a need to raise awareness about sustainable investment or, in other words, ‘green investment.’ In this year’s 4th Golden Egg University Fund Basket Competition, we aim to make investments in ‘Sustainability’ funds mandatory to increase young people’s awareness of sustainability. This way, our youth will learn how to make investments that contribute to a sustainable future with their investment preferences.”
Öztop also highlighted the importance of domestic savings in shaping Turkey’s potential growth continuously. He emphasized that saving is the first step in this regard, and the crucial step is to invest every lira of individual savings in investment instruments. This not only increases individual income and financial freedom but also provides the necessary financing for the long-term sustainable growth of companies and our country’s economy. Öztop stated that as TSPB, they consider increasing financial literacy in our country as a top priority and conduct various activities ranging from communication to education.
“Contributing to students’ financial literacy and encouraging them to invest in investment funds for the long term”
Yağız Oral, President of the Turkish Association of Corporate Investment Managers (TKYD), stated that they aim to introduce Investment Funds and TEFAS to university students and increase financial literacy with the traditional Golden Egg University Fund Basket Competition, organized annually by TSPB and Takasbank in collaboration. He emphasized their goal to encourage university students to turn to long-term investments through investment funds.
Oral highlighted that this year, they have made it mandatory to invest in “Sustainability” funds, stating, “Students will become familiar with environmental, sustainability, and impact investment themes and the funds that invest in these themes over time. In this way, they can make more environmentally friendly investments and contribute to our future.”
Oral explained, “The purpose of organizing this competition is to contribute to financial planning starting during university years, encourage university students to balance the risk-return ratio between different asset classes with a long-term perspective, and introduce the TEFAS infrastructure to students.”
TEFAS provides the technical infrastructure for the competition
The technical infrastructure of the competition will be provided by the “Turkey Electronic Fund Trading Platform” (TEFAS), established and operated by Takasbank, in line with the fund basket rules of the Capital Markets Board.
