The 2nd International Tarsus Festival, organized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, took place from November 17 to 19 as part of the “Şahmeran Year” events. The festival enchanted participants with its art, culture, and entertainment-filled activities.
Highlight: Handmade Ceramic Plates with Şahmeran Theme
As part of the festival, 40 handmade ceramic plates with the Şahmeran theme were presented to participants, meticulously prepared by the Mavi Boncuklu Women’s Collective. Led by ceramic artist Tuğba Küçükbahar, the collective aims to contribute to women’s engagement with art. The Şahmeran plates, with their specially shaped and colored designs, garnered great admiration from festival visitors.

Organized under the coordination of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the festival brought together various Şahmeran-themed activities. From workshops to fashion shows, discussions, film screenings, and performances by national and international folk dance groups, the festival offered a wide range of events that attracted participants.
The festival made sure not to forget the younger audience, hosting special activities such as animation, theater, and music for children. Additionally, national and international folk dance groups provided colorful performances throughout the festival, creating unforgettable moments for the audience.
